State-of-the-Art Technology
The range of engines for the new Superb fulfils the needs of every customer and presents a wide-ranging variety. All of the engines operate with direct fuel injection and excel as a result of their low fuel consumption and emission values. The weight of Škoda‘s top model weighs from only 1,425 kg so that even the basic engine models have no problem in providing plenty of power.
The main petrol engine in the new Superb and Simply Superb will be the 1.8 TSI with 118 kW (160 HP) with automatic seven-speed DSG. It provides peak torque of 250 Nm in the range from 1,500/rpm to 4,500/rpm and propels the front-wheel driven Superb to a top speed of 220 km/h. Acceleration is quick, needing only 8.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km; the combined fuel consumption lies at a figure of 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres and the CO2 emission figure at 180 g/km.
The automatic 7-speed DSG transmission, exclusively for the 1.8l TSI/118kW engine, guarantees smooth and economic driving. With a seventh gear, DSG transmissions have even smoother shifting and, therefore, the maximum utilisation of the potential of the engine’s torque. Smooth yet fast gearing creates not only a very pleasant experience behind the wheel, but also favourable fuel consumption.
The top engine for the new Superb V6 is the new 3.6 litre V6 FSI with 191 kW (260 HP) and a maximum torque of 350 Nm between 2,500/rpm and 5,000/rpm. Its combined consumption is 10 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres; the CO2 emissions are 238 g/km. The top engine powers the car from 0 to 100 km/h in only 6.5 seconds at a top speed of 250 km/h. The 3.6 V6 FSI is supplied with the automated six-speed DSG and, so the immense engine power is translated properly into driving power, permanent four-wheel drive. Power distribution is designed to be variable. A fourth-generation Haldex clutch monitors the power electronically. During normal driving traction conditions 100% of the power goes to the front axle. When needed, the 350 Nm of torque can be sent to the rear wheels. This guarantees safe and reliable driving on all road conditions.
Enjoyment at the Touch of a Fingertip
The dashboard with the Maxi DOT display is very well arranged. It brings data from the vehicle’s on-board computer (outside temperature, average speed, etc.) into the driver’s field of sight.In addition, the Maxi DOT display also supports the GSM III Premium telephone that ensures safe, user-friendly telephone control from the driver’s seat via the Maxi Dot display and controls on the multifunction steering wheel (it can also be voice activated). The use of Bluetooth technology mewans that drivers need not place their telephone in a special holder; instead they can keep it anywhere in the car – including in a briefcase in the luggage compartment.
The multifunctional 3-spoke leather steering wheel offers you control over a radio, telephone and automatic gearing in its "top" version. The controls are organised so that the lower gears are on the left side and higher on the right side. The multifunctional steering wheel cooperates exclusively with the state-of-the- art DSG double-clutch automatic transmission.
The Bolero radio is an original audio system designed exclusively for the new Superb. The radio’s shape, including its display and buttons, is optimised for the layout of the whole dashboard. The list of offered functions is very long, and it meets even exceptional expectations. The Bolero audio system has a colour 2 DIN touch display and integrated changer for six CDs.
The Columbus navigation system (available on the Superb V6) with DVD mechanism, hard disk and touch screen function, widely exceeds the functionality of the common navigation devices. Controlled via a 6.5" TFT touch colour high-resolution display (Wide VGA – 800 × 480 pixels), 13 buttons and 2 dials. It is also equipped with a 30 GB hard disk, 10 GB reserved for navigation data and 20 GB for music in MP3 or WMA format.
The high performance Sound System with a 10-channel amplifier plus a digital equaliser and ten speakers will make the experience comparable to one in a concert hall. The device is available in combination with the Bolero radio.
The audio jack located on the Jumbo Box will enable the easy connection of external audio devices, e.g. an iPod, pocket PC, Walkman, CD player, etc.
